Found this about xylitol and the FDA warning to pet owners.  It's even found is some of the 'nut butters' on the market and warns of people not to use them for trying to give dogs medications.  Check the products you give your dogs, mainly 'people' food items for the ingredient.

our vet gives out a wallet sized card with all the alternate names of xylitol to be aware of. every time we see her we get a new one just in case. scary.
