For old timers, Sticks, our border collie is gone.

She gave us 15 1/2 good years but the past month she's been declining.  Barely eating and becoming disoriented.

Yesterday she couldn't get up at all and was crying.  So this morning we made the sad trip to the vet..

I'm so very sorry for your loss...  You gave each other a wonderful life

Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

I'm so very, very sorry.  I just lost my Sadie six weeks ago and still cry every day.  May you rejoice in your memories as you mourn your dog's passing.

Oh NJ and family. I am so sorry to have read this today. When I told Sylvain he was in "shock". We remember her so well from our trip to your home. She was a really nice and calm dog...one I would have like to have. It's nice sometimes a quiet dog around the house (and not only when they sleep...when they sleep).

RIP Sticky. You had a wonderful life with those people who loved you very much. Coyotes will have to search else where now for fun games. Smile

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  She was such a good dog!  I enjoyed the pictures and stories of her over the years.  It's so hard to hear that another one of our seniors has passed.  Thinking of you and your family during this sad time!

Thanks..

Sticky did have a long life and until this past month for the most part she was healthy and happy.  She loved our big yard, playing in the creek, chasing critters, rolling in dead things, stuff country dogs like.  She was an outside dog and loved the outdoors. We don't have a fence and she never wandered further than our neighbors house.  Not once did we need to go searching for her.

We don't know for sure but I suspect she had some kind of cancer.  I could feel a large lump in her back and one in her neck.  We decided to let her go peacefully and not put her through painful treatments.  And at 15 she'd had a long life and we doubted it would do much good, if any.  And Sticky hated car rides and vet visits.  We would have preferred she passed peacefully in her sleep but the last day she was suffering so we figured it was time.

There has been construction close to our property so for the most part, the coyotes have moved on.  We were worried at the end one might come by and attach her but thankfully that didn't happen.
