I just thought that I'd share my experience of owning my second Eskie.

Our first eskie was my first dog that I ever owned.  My husband and I "winged it" in training him and he turned out to be a "great" dog.

After he passed away, it took us some time to heal and we started discussing getting another dog.  We decided to go with an Eskie again.

This time, we decided to go to "Puppy School".  I highly recommend this for everyone. Even it you owned a dog before.  It not only trains the dog, but it trains the owner too.  It makes things so much easier.  Besides, the puppies love it because they get to meet other puppies.

I am now going to "Level I Obedience training".  This is my third week, and Buddy really looks forward to it.  The training is all about positive results and lot's of rewarding.  It also re-inforces the basic commands taught at puppy school.   It's only one hour a week and it doesn't cost a lot very much.

We also watch a show called "Good Dog" which helps with training and common problems.  Last week, they had a toy eskie and Stanley, the host, was teaching him to walk nicely on a leash.

I truly believe a dog's behaviour results from how it was trained.  It's so easy to let the dog be the pack leader (without you realizing it), when all you have to do is a few simple things for you to be the pack leader.

Hope my comments help any newbies.

He is so cute. Look at those fluffy ears.

Yep.. classes are always good. No matter what age they are. Each dog is very unique anyway. Training technics can be different from one dog to another.

Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there!

Looks like Buddy and Kola would get along perfectly.  I think I have the matching picture to that first one!
