I now believe tasha has a grass allergy. she scratches herself all over, especially in her bum area but only when she comes in from the outside.

if i take her to the vet will they have to do a test allergy to make sure its grass and if they do, is it an injection?
do they just prescribe antibiotics for this?

Not sure.  It depends on what exactly he sees and what he sees, well, from that he will decide how to treat.  So its really in his hands.  But it sounds like a trip to the vet is necessary.  Let us know how it goes!!!

No- allergies are not treated with anitbiotics.  They are treated with antihistamines and/or steroid medications.

In the summer Kaiya needs to take 1/2 of a chlortrimeton pill up to twice a day- benadryl doesn't work well for her.  We'd rather do that than have her on Steroids.  Also- if it really is the bum area- it could be some type of infection or infestation, or even a food allergy.  Think about babies and introducing them to new foods- one of the signs of allergy is diarrhea or rash/irritation.  Maybe here, too.

Oh- I should say they can become allergic to foods at anytime- even if it is not new.

Kaiya was on the same food for 2.5 years before she showed signs of allergy.

Usually a grass allergy shows up as respiratory symptoms too.
