I had mentioned in the Upcoming Changes thread about a Dog Stuff Store. I'll describe that area a bit more here, and would appreciate any thoughts/input/etc. any of you have on this.

I've mentioned plans to do some eskie Patches this past year and was truly hoping to get them done by this fall, but have just had too much going on to completely concentrate on those to get them done. I DO still plan on doing the patches, but also have some other plans along these lines.

As some of you know, I do make booties for dogs, and dish stands, and some other stuff. I also have had some dog "books" and other doggy items from time to time to offer. I've decided to put all this "stuff" in a sort of "store" area on the site. With the upcoming changes to the forums/site, I figured this is a good time to do this.

So, along with those items I already have, or can make, and the items I am looking to get done up in the near future, we could have some nice things....some regular dog stuff, but also some "eskie" stuff as well!

I've been researching getting some shirts screen printed and am planning to do a run of shirts in the near future as well. Will probably do either/both t-shirts and sweatshirts. When I get to the point I'm going to order the printing, I'll check with members to see what sizes and type of shirt(s) anyone may want so I can hopefully get a selection that will benefit everyone best. I've got a couple of design ideas I've started working on for these, but may also come up with some other down the line. So, we could have some nice eskie shirts in the near future. Not forgetting the patches either! Again, I'll post more on this as I'm nearing getting the printing done.

In the meantime, I came across a small lot full of heat transfer paper that I was able to get a good buy on. I have enough to do quite a few full shirt designs or even more smaller designs. All are for white fabrics, but that will be good for us eskie folks, eh! I haven't decided 100% what I will do with all these, but can either do a particular design and run it, or maybe offer up custom designs as well. Would any of you be interested in heat transfer printed shirts? In my opinion, this format isn't "quite" as good as actual screen printing, but you can do individual designs and/or more colors or what have you. I tend to stick to more B/W or single color formats myself, because they tend to look classier, but can be creative in this respect. I could order a bunch of blank shirts and do some eskie designs up for members if they want. I haven't finalized prices, but they'd be somewhere in the $15 ballpark for t-shirts. The screen printed shirts will only be about $1 or $2 more for t-shirts. Sweatshirts probably in the $25 ballpark. Again, not finalized, but something along those lines. A "custom" design for a transfer print might run a little bit more, but let me know what you all think! Interested in some transfer printed shirts or would you prefer to wait for the screen printed ones? (PS....you can always get both!)

I have some other things that I'm looking into as well, but am also open to ideas and requests for items. Either eskie particular or general doggy stuff. If it's something that can be sewn or made from wood, I can probably come up with something here. Other items I can look into getting ahold of and offering to members. Let me know what YOU might like to see in the Dog Stuff Store! Whether eskie or dog stuff!

Anyway.....that's a little of what's planned for the "store" area. I do plan to connect this more with the forums and other areas so people can find them in the future, but thought I'd post on this so you all have a little idea of what's coming and also to ask for your input on any of this! The patches and shirts will hopefully be coming Q1 of 2005, but I will post on that when I'm nearing an actual order of them. The transfer printed shirts I can do either now or very soon, so if anyone's interested in those, let me know!

Any other ideas or thoughts, feel free to write to me as well!

Thanks....

Since you ask for imput here's mine.

Its 13 degrees here. I do not want / need a tee shirt.  I will in April, May and the months following.  So if you come down to making teeshirts for us OR working on the BOARD, my vote is to go with the BOARD!!

Another sweatshirt at this moment is great. Really great as I a cold.   But work on the BOARD.  Weatherman is promising 65 on Thursday

As far as heat transfer vs screen print - both.

As far as white vs color teeshirts, don't care too much, but the idea of a colored shirt with a white, even outlined eskie, is very tempting. Esp if blue.  Pleased

Custom design - sure!  Small standing eskie on left upper front of shirt and you can use it for anybody who wants one.

Patches ?   Wheres mine!!!  Did you decide on sew-on or the other type?  Wheres mine!!!   BTW, wheres mine?

Where is the critter sign?  My critters are hibernating at least til Thursday. Could use one, or two, or three.

Wood, huh. Got to go think on that one.
Do you do any leather work? Ra lost her white, rolled leather collar and finding another is dismal.  Sure could use a few. Great for eskies and their fur.

I love anything Eskie so my opinion is--do everything!!

T-shirts and sweatshirts sound fun, so do patches.  I think if you make it, we will buy it.

Very durable stuff for Elmo, please.   He would look very cute in a T shirt. He is a mini/standard cross and weighs 20 lbs - with the jaw strength of a much bigger dog.   My darling departed mini Dachshund also had a firm grip, but would let go if Mommy said "ouch".  How I miss him, as you do Jamie.  I think of him every day and will do so for the rest of my life.  Elmo would have done well under his "supervision".

Screen print lasts longer than heat transfer. However, with screen print, if you have them commercially done, sometimes they goof things up, so make sure you check them very closely before you pay.

As for patches, go with what's cheaper.  I have yet to encounter an iron-on patch that I didn't have to sew on eventually.
