So my Guinness the clumsy, impulsive, reckless pup.. decided to run really fast to bark at a dog outside the fence and he crash into a picnic bench at the park. I didn't even see it but my boyfriend made a comment about it, it was very dark at the park so he looked ok and when we got home I checked him over and immediately saw a big scrape right under his eye. He was squinting that eye, I think the impact gave him a bit of swelling but that's gone. The fur/skin is scraped off but it wasn't really bleeding, pretty shallow just a scrape, I cleaned with saline and put neosporin on it. In the mornings when I check on him it looks like it's starting to scab over but (now 2nd day) when I look at it in the afternoon/evening it looks like a fresh wound again. He does not paw at it that I have seen, and he is playing with my other dog as usual but nothing that should cause it to ..unheal? haha.

This afternoon I was getting worried because it looked a little yellowish gunky but then when I checked him again it's just back to pinkish/red.. It's a very minor scrape, besides being right under his eye (SO lucky it was not his eye!). Anything else I should do? Of course he goes to the vet if I think it's getting infected but at this point I just want it to heal.. Maybe he is rubbing it or pawing at it when I do not see?

Mine get scraps, cuts and nicks all the time.  Just keep it clean and an eye on it that it does not get infected and it should heal quickly.

I like using Johnson and Johnson antiseptic wash.  It's painless and keeps the wound clean.  I use it on my animals AND when I get a new piercing Smile
