It is now been 3 months that Trixie, who turns 11 in September, has been with me.  She has matured!

Although she still doesn't eat potato chips, she believes I belong in the kitchen so she can share any food I might cook.  That includes potatoes! She goes bonkers for string cheese, any cheese for that, and be careful of anything that crinkles as she will go into a gorgous show stack!

Seeing a soft plastic bag will have her offering many behaviors. Sit, down, offer a paw, high five, roll, play dead, sit up and bark are a few.

She has learned to be tolerant of todlers and kids up to the age of 8.  The girls in that age group can now brush her, but most of the boys move too quickly for her.

With most people she has a relationship with, she will allow them to enter my apartment, attach a leash to her collar and go for a walk. She still will not approach people but will allow them to approach her.

Trixie came to me housebroken, but like most dogs her preference to doing her business is as far from the front door as possible. This was a big headache for me as Winter will be here one of these months. I no longer walk in snow.  So teaching her that it is ok to go right outside the door, or porch in this case, has been difficult. Until the 1st of this month when me knee went out. She now understands why and agrees with me!!

Trixie is a lot of fun for me. Keeps my brain going. lol She is pretty sure she'll stay around.  Pleased

That's great news Mary.  It sounds like Trixie is settling right in and training you well.

Sounds like both of you are doing good. You are taking good care of each other. My Snowball will go very far away from the house to use the bathroom just like yours.
