I haven't contributed a lot here (although I'm always reading) but just felt the need to tell you that Sugar passed on Thursday morning. It had been coming for a very long time, and we finally got the signal from her that we had been waiting for. I knew this would be hard on my husband and me but I didn't know it would be this hard. Sugar was my first dog and she taught me so much and was so good for my husband and me as a couple. We don't have human kids so she was really our child.

There was never a moment in her 10+ years with us that I did not treasure her, appreciate her and love her. She was a precious being and it is very difficult to be without her right now. I can barely see from crying so much. I know you all understand.

A friend told me, "To get a puppy is to schedule a broken heart." The price of love, right?

Crying  I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.  I know how difficult it can be when it's that time in our baby's lives.  We just lost our Angel of 12 years a few month ago.  And when we lost Billy about a year ago, I didn't think the tears would ever stop.

Getting another dog is definitely not to replace the one lost.  I look at it as giving another dog the chance for the same type of love that you gave Sugar.  There are so many Eskies looking for new homes, both young and old.  I'm sure one of them or maybe two  Wink  would help with your healing process.

I am so sorry for you loss.  It is never easy to let our loved ones go.  Treasure her memory and she will live on in your heart forever.  When you are ready, we would love to hear more stories about your Sugar.

My sheltie of 18 years has been gone for 16 years now and I still miss her like crazy and get teary-eyed over her.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Too many of us have experienced this recently and it really hits home when we hear that another member is going through the grief of losing a beloved family member.  I'm praying for peace and comfort for you and your family as you deal with the loss of Sugar.  Treasure your memories and know that she had a wonderful and full life with you.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Sugar.  It is so hard to lose them and the pain never does go away.  It gets easier to live with but never goes away.  I lost my best boy in 1997 and still miss him alot.

Thank you for all your responses. I was going through my photos of Sugar today and one of my favorites is of her leaping toward the camera, big smile on her face. I like to think she's running like the wind again, no aches and pains or clouded vision weighing her down.

I still can't believe she's gone, though.

We're so very sorry to hear about this, Lisa. We know you and your husband had been working on giving Sugar the best years of her life, and know how hard this must be on you both. Everyone on the board can relate and share in your tears. Here's a big warm hug from us from across the miles............
