Hi Everyone,

I just adopted an AE from the shelter this weekend. I never even heard of an Eskie before, so I'm here to learn. I'm curious to find out if my little guy is a mix, or pure bred (not that it really matters, just curious). Would you be able to tell from photos? I'll post some when I have a sec.

Thanks,
Maria

Hello Maria!
Welcome to Eskie Board! I am Dale, not too far from you in Covina.

Yes, we will be able to tell from photos whether your girl is an Eskie. I know I can speak for the group members by saying we'll all love to see the photos so please post.

When I got my first Eskie (bear with me here, it's a bit embarrassing) I thought he was a miniature Samoyed...  What on earth did I know?  Other than he stopped growing (cause he wasn't a Samoyed) and he turned out to be THE BEST DOG IN THE WORLD.

Bobbie is now at Rainbow Bridge, but he was with me for 15 years... and he truly was and always will be, the Best Dog in the World.  I now have two rescue Eskies, gotten at different times.... and bit of a Bobby legacy carryover.

Just be patient, open to learning, and realize that they need a great deal of love, and secure calm discipline.  They are the cutest most lovable pooches ever.  (and they don't stink so you gotta love that!)

Thanks for the replies and welcomes, eveyone:)

Below are a few pictures of Joey. I'm having a hard time getting him to pose...he wants to run around, or run to me...I'm sure you understand Happy

The Border Collie is Niki. She passed over to the Rainbow Bridge last month Frown It was incrediblity heartbreaking, but since she was such a great dog, she paved the way for this new guy to come into my life.

He looks to be mostly Eskie with maybe a little Golden in him. But he sure is cute! Congrats on your new family member!!

Welcome Smile

Joey is cute. I agree with Geno, Joey looks like an eskie with a little bit of Golden mixed in.
