Does your dog have a smell? Doji is freakishly clean and always, always, always smells good. Way better than any human. He doesn't get bathed frequently, maybe four or five times a year at most. How often do you bathe your dogs?

My regular dogs (not show dogs) don't get bathed from one year to the next. They don't smell at all.

non-show dogs get bathed once a year and don't smell at all. Eskies tend to shed dirt and odors in addition to hair, so they are just not smelly dogs.

mine get two, maybe three, baths a year....mostly because snoopy is a mix and tends to get a smell like old gym socks, he is self cleaning but does get a little funky smelling from time to time. and if i am going to bathe one, i bathe them both. i usually do it around daylight savings, and then end up one or maybe two other times, at the most. there are countless other in between hose offs for butt clean ups and rolling in dead stuff (usually snowball, snoopy wouldnt deign to roll in anything dead).

mostly depends on if they're going to a show or someplace special - average twice a year...

I bath Chester when he's shedding bad, it seems to make brushing easier and I get most of the loose hair that way, and it seem to shorten the shedding time or I bath him before a vet visit. So maybe 3 times a year. It's really funny cause the neighbors always ask "do you bath him every week? cause he's always sooo white". Geno

Jackson gets a bath approx four times a year. He tends to rub his ruff along the sides of things, like walls & car tires, so can get a bit grubby-looking there. He does swim a few laps in the pool once in a while, too!

The non-show dogs only get a bath once or twice a year. Like Geno, I usually do it when they are blowing bad as when I dry them with the blower it gets a lot of the fur out so much faster.
And no, they don't have any odor.

My American Eskimo usually has a very pleasant scent. I think he naturally smells a bit sweet and it's very faint. He is bathed about once a month except winter usually less, but would've probably been much less if not for the other dog.
Our other one is a German Spitz, he smells like old cheetos/grossness a lot. He likes to roll in scent spots he finds in the park. One time he dug up a worm and brought it to the pavement and rubbed his cheeks on it..
Both dogs are taken out almost everyday to play with dogs so they are constantly covered in dog slobber and mud and dust. They get baths together in the tub. But dirt dries off the Eskie, and he will look clean again by himself without a bath and not smell.

Mine have a very faint scent, but it is a neutral scent. Maybe slightly sweet. I take them to the groomer for a bath and full blowout every 4-6 weeks. The reason I take them pretty often is that Yukon's coat is very thick, and although I brush it out in-between, I like to keep the undercoat under control with regular bath and blow-dry. Kiska is pretty easy to brush out, but Yukon takes forever - it takes me at least 3 hours to do a full line brushing on him, and that's just pre- bath. :-)

My adults get a bath once every few months when komite decides that both crates need to be scented and I don't notice until the next morning.
Cleo has needed a bath at least once a week since we got her. We're working on it, but sometimes she can't make it the full time I'm at work.

I go to the groomers every 3-4 months for Kiki. She has a nice sweet smell I just love! I guess it really depends on the dog and their activities. Some dogs love rolling in dirt, or rubbing on everything or digging, so I guess those would need to be bathed more often. Mine is a clean freak, she avoids anything wet or dirty at all cost, so I don't have to bath her much. It's funny, and I bet most of you guys get this comment too, when people sees Kiki, almost always they would say, oh my god she is so white and clean, did you just groom her? I would be like...um...not since 3 months ago. lol and they are all shocked.

I brush all four of my dogs 3 times a week which keeps them pretty clean--no smell. I still bathe them all every 4-5 weeks as two of them generally sleep on my bed. An occasional hose off of butts also keeps them fresh.

Brimley is a big stinky boy! Always rolling in something and smells "funny". I bath him every couple of months.

It's a baby step process. Try lifting his lips like you're checking his gums for color. When he tolorates it, get him a treat... repeat several times. Then touch his teeth with your finger... treat. Then rub his teeth with your finger... treat, repeat. I bought one of the kits with the finger brush, works good. Or have the Vet do it if he can tolorate mild sedation. Geno

When I first got Niko and tried to brush his teeth he would not let me at all. I had mint toothpaste for him, then I tried chicken toothpaste and both dogs can't wait to get their teeth brushed!! Also our vet gave us a food, http://www.vetmeddirect.com/Hills-Prescription-Diet-td-Small-Bites-Canine-5-lbs-bag--pr--030SD4005 i guess you may need a prescription to buy it? We do not feed that as meals but just give a couple a day as treats, neither of them have had doggie breath

Riley gets bathed about five times per year, mostly because from April to October he insists on jumping into every single body of water he sees--mud puddles, ponds, creeks, Lake Michigan, etc. After he dries off regular dirt brushes out easily from his fur but pond and creek water leave a residue that turns it a dingy gray. Strangers don't seem to notice this, since they always comment on how white and well-groomed he looks. I can tell, though. Also, Riley never has an odor--except for his feet, which smell like popcorn. Riley's breath doesn't smell, either, but his teeth are not good and seem to attract more than their share of tartar in spite of getting brushed regularly with a battery powered rotating toothbrush and frequent C.E.T. Hextra Rawhide chews that the vet recommended. He just had a dental in February and already the tartar is starting to build up on his back teeth! Actually, the one thing I've found that works great on his teeth is a frozen raw marrow bone, as long as I scoop out most of the marrow beforehand. Otherwise he gets cannon butt along with clean teeth!

When Shelby was alive she had so many allergies that she used to get yeast infections on her skin. She would get a very funky odor and her fur would get greasy feeling. She had to be bathed quite often using a medicated shampoo. Buck would get a bath a few times a year and never had an odor. Merlin and Macy are bathed more often when they are showing but otherwise I don't give them baths other than the occasional dirty feet or messy rears. They always smell wonderful! I love the way their feet smell too... like popcorn or corn chips...
