Do you give your eskies children's or adult benedryl for allergies or bug bites?  How much do you give?

I think it depends on what it is you're trying to treat as well as the size of the dog. When Kiska was a young puppy and got stung by a wasp, I gave her Children's benedryl per the vet's instructions.  If it were me, I would call my vet and ask what the appropriate dosage is for whatever it is you're trying to treat.

its per weight of the dog. 1 mg per pound i think. but check with the vet.

My eskies weigh between 23-32 lbs.  I give the a 25 mg tab.  Jen is right....1 mg per lb....I prefer the tabs to the liquid though and have given 1/2 when needed.  I use the adult version normally, but have used the childrens liquid when that was all I could find at the store when traveling.

I use it for bug bites/stings, and when Edge was bitten by the snake, that is what they gave him.

Needless to say, it is a staple item in my house.

We give children's benedryl before certain vaccines.  Definitely check with vet, as it does depend on weight and age.

I already called the vet and got the dosage.  He said one tablet.  I guess I was just being nervous about it and wanted to see what everyone else gave.  I have a great Vet so I don't know why I was nervous.  I'm just being over protective.
