I have been contacted by an elderly ladies son about his mom's Mini Eskie (20lbs).  She is 3 years old , not spayed, good with other dogs and children.  Mom has had to begin using walker and wheel chair and they are afraid the dog will trip her.

Son took dog but is being ordered by landlord to get rid of her.  He's sending me a picture which I'll post as soon as I get it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Go get her Smile what's one more?  Get her spayed, train her up and take some time to find her a furever home that's right.

Good idea!  Been there, done that, and still doing it with 3 reskies here that need to be re-homed.  It's a great feeling when you can find the perfect home where you know they will be loved furever!  Wink

Personally, I think the Son should give his Mom her dog back. My Mom had a dog the entire time she was using a walker. Especially if the Mom lives alone. Great companionship. The dog will learn to avoid the walker.

Just my opinion.

I totally agree.  Therapy dogs are around walkers and wheelchairs all the time.  It's no big deal.  Send that pretty little girl back to her mistress!

Unless there are other things going on with his mom--other medical conditions, it would be good for her and doggie to stay together. Both will miss each other! Hopefully they can stay together into old age.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be an option.  They are planning to put Mom in a home soon.  I have a few feelers out but nothing yet.  I'd love to keep her, she reminds me of my last ekie, Nuisance.  But with my travel for work it would be too hard to take 2 dogs along.  Nibby has learned to be a good traveler but 2 through the airports is just not doable.

I certainly hope since you posted this, that you'll keep an eye on the dog to be sure it doesn't end up in a kill shelter? Being somebody with 12 Eskies in the house, 11 of them rescues nobody else wanted, you wont get much sympathy from me for having one Eskie and being overwhelmed by a second. Rescue till it hurts! That's a great looking Eskie! Have you considered asking ERU for a courtesy listing? Is she being networked on Facebook? All good options that I've used to great advantage to rehome eskies.

The dog is in NW Pennsylvania.  I don't know anything about the other options you discussed.  Maybe you could pm me with some instructions and suggestions.  I'm going to pick up the dog and keep it till we find someone 'cause he indicated he would put it down or "drop it off at a farm somewhere".  I hope he gets his.

That's a great idea to go get her. There are a good number of ERU people lurking here. Some in fact might consider where the dog is at as being a hotbed for Eskies. Let me know when you have the dog in your house where you can observe him and get a feel for what she's like. From there we can put together an informative profile for posting. You already have a great picture of her. God bless you for helping her. Suree doesn't seem like the guy who has her gives a rip.

How about Erie PA? How far away from there is the dog? Or you for that matter?

We're in Warren County PA--about 45 min. from Erie.  There aren't many eskies in this area.

I might be able to put you in touch with a family who has a small hobby farm in Erie. They have adopted from me an Eskie girl I rescued back in March. I'll tell them about this girl.
In fact here is a lionk to my original posting on these boards from back in March. You can see the family that adopted Mitzie.

I have some very good leads for you for this girl. One might even contact you soon. The folks I've adopted an eskie to in Erie will take her if the other choice does not commit.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.  IF THEY WANT HER HAVE THEM E-MAIL ME @ widders@penn.com and put eskie in the subject so they don't get caught in my spam blocker.  We can arrange for them to have her as soon as this weekend and I'll deliver her.

Looks like they are a wonderful "Eskie Lovin" family.  She loves kids and loves to play so should be a perfect match if they're still interested.

Well, we picked her up today.  She's so sweet.  But is so skinny and most of her hair has been rubbed off due to fleas.  We have an ERU who will take her near Pittsburgh, but was too late to get her there today and I didn't want to give her too many changes.  We went to our groomer who bathed and my vet came in to check her over and give her a dose of advantage.

Nibby's not thrilled with her but my husband fell in love.  She's played with every kid in the neighborhood and is now sleeping on the couch with me while I read.  She seem to be better with women and since I'm the one who got her, she's my shadow.  Plan to talk to ERU lady tomorrow and make futher plans.  Thank you all for your help.  I'll post pictures soon.

I'm so glad it worked out for her. And thank you for making her comfortable. Geez, I've pulled Eskies from shelters without fleas. Seems there is some divine intervention taking place and angels are watching and guiding her to a better place then the one she came from. Sounds also like she made quite an impression on you all? Don't feel bad changing your mind and keeping her. It happens all the time. I always say rescue is a fluid thing that can change at a moment.
And if the girl getting her from you is Cheryl, say hi and give her my best. She and her husband are saints in my book!

Second day of trying to reach you. Do you still need our help or can we move on to other Eskies needing assistance? Let us know one way or the other. A place has been set aside for the dog, and will only be available so long before it gets filled with the next deserving Eskie.
