How many of you have shipped a girl in season to the male?  did it screw up her season?  I am thinking of what to do with Mona when she comes into season in october and afraid, because she is such a momma's baby and spoiled rotten, that it will interrupt her season.  What do you think?

Sometimes it is fine, sometimes it interrupts the cycle. My experience has been about 50/50 for the females we have that come in to be bred.

I shipped Tanzy - we had only one puppy on that breeding, but it was her only breeding, so I have no idea why we only got one puppy - she is not a momma's girl.  She will go with and love anyone who pays attention to her. however, it did not mess with her season.  I did have the breeder do progesterone tests at the local vet so as to maximize the most fertile days.

Charm however is a big momma's girl.  Thus we ended up bringing Turbo to Texas rather than sending Charm to WA.

What about shipping the male or doing frozen semen?

I had a good experience with shipping my female to the male.  They hooked up the day she arrived.  She had 3 puppies in that litter - and that was her first breeding.
