I think it is spelled Wachusett. Which is our local mountain area.   And now that I know they exist I might have to go check them out as we less than an hour away.

Hi, another nod towards adopting Smile My eskie was found on petfinder.com and he stayed with a foster family. I think that was better than just a shelter because they knew how he did in a home setting, how he interacted with their kids and other dog, etc. If you find the perfect pup don't worry if it's not a baby. Mine was one yr and the bonding was pretty instant, he still acted like a crazy energetic puppy but we got the benefits of him already being house trained and well mannered and just perfect.

Thanks for all the welcomes and suggestions everyone! Right now we're just waiting for our landlords (hehe, my in-laws) to get back from their vacation to let them know we're seriously planning on a dog and make sure they're still OK with it (99% sure, but want to be nice and all). They have their own dog, so sure it won't be a problem (especially since the cats have done more damage than wanted already.. heh). Once we're good on that front, we're going to be getting down to serious "shopping" Wink Know one breeder around the forums here who (might) still have a puppy available, but maybe not by then (Thanksgiving is when they're getting back). I sent a mail to both the Alpine & Wachusettes (sp?) individuals but haven't heard back yet. Anyone know of any others who might have availability in the coming months? If possible, I *think* I'd like to get a male just due to general personality trends, but a female isn't necessarily ruled out yet either. Wink Figure I'll drive over a weekend for pickup, so anywhere within like 7-8 hours (one way) from central PA is good enough. Standard breed preferred also. Smile

Thinking this might just be a bad time of year to be looking, so might have to wait until early next year. Also looking on the Petfinder adoption sites too, but trying to avoid the BYB types and not wanting "too" old for the cat's sake. Being picky, I know, but hey.. gonna have the lucky winner in the family for (hopefully) 20 years, so wanna make sure its a good fit. Big Grin

Thanks again everyone!
