I've been looking into a step in harness for Kodi, I found the vest type harness. I'm afraid with all of his fur he actually might be too warm in the spring/summer. What type of harness do others on the board have for their dogs. Any input would be great! Thank you ahead of time.

For walking, I just use a regular old harness from the local pet store. It's basically nylon like a regular collar, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide. I slip the smaller opening over their heads, pull one leg through the larger back opening, then clip it closed on top of their back.
For seat belts, I use a stronger kind made especially for doggie seat belts. It has a place for a leash so we can go walking with them, too.

I'm not sure what difference there is for a "step in" harness vs other kinds. But what I have used for Yukon and Kiska are the no-pull harnesses. I like the Easy Walk harness and the Sens-ible harness.

I have those vest kind of harness, I think depends on where you live, your dog might get a bit hot. I started using this hemp collar and leash made by Planet Dog un in Maine. It's very soft and definitely sturdy. Kiki would choke on a normal collar as she pulls so much.

I, too, use the regular old harness that Kathy uses. You can get it in nice colors - I use purple for 11 months of the year, and red for the month of December. I, too, was afraid those vest-type harnesses would be too hot for Angel. I bought a Easy Walk harness for SP. She gets so excited and pulls so hard, I think she would win a pulling contest with oxen as competitors!
I didn't want a regular collar for either of them for walks, as I don't want anything pulling on their throats.

the step in harnesses are easier to put on. they kind of look like a figure 8 but pointed not rounded. in theory, you lay them on the ground, have the dog step on them then bring the loops of the 8 up and clip on the back. i say in theory because i find no matter what i'm wrestling my dogs into, the excitement of the prospect of going anywhere that requires "getting dressed" makes that very task near impossible we have 2 like kathy has.

For some reason the thick and wide hemp collar is the only collar that she doesn't choke on. I thnk it doesn't cut into her throat. Normal collar are made of leather or nylon and are generally narrow, so they are hard and they dig in. With the hemp collar it is very wife, the material is super soft, it does not "dig" into her throat or restraint it. She still pulls, but at least no gagging sounds. lol
I also love their color choices, we haev the orange one, but i really like their purple and light pink ones too. =)

I love their collars as well. I'm thinking about ordering one of these to try it out.

We use the figure 8 - Step in harness, mine both just stand there when I say collars on - it took lots of training to get over the excitement issue but I just waited them out each time, they finally got it. They are very easy and don't seem to choke them as much as the typical harness. I found mine at PetCo but this is the one I really want to get: http://www.grooming-pet-supplies.com/bc3-1507/petsupplies/item.html Just haven't gotten around to ordering them.
