Sorry to hear about Sugar. I pray it's not kidney issues, but please have your Vet check that. It's done with a blood test.
Pee Pads work on younger dogs and once trained to them, mine always went there when necessary, even if there was no pad. I put mine in the bathroom (not carpeted) then later on when she had to go, she would go to the bathroom and pee on a throw rug that was in the same place as the pads used to be.
I don't know if you can train an older dog, but it's worth a try especially if She has a favorite spot in the house.

Poor Sugar. I think she's losing her ability to hold her pee. She's been peeing in the house a few times a day, despite the fact that we are taking her out way more often than we ever did. Sometimes we can't get dressed fast enough in the a.m. to get her outside!
I will take her to the vet to make sure it's not some other problem, but in the meantime, has anyone ever tried those indoor pee pads? Do they work? A problem for us would be that we have no real place in the house to put them.
