I saw one in California once.   You sit around an oval space in the center of which the sushi chef does his thing and then puts the various kinds of sushi on a conveyer belt that runs around and around the oval.  You pick what you want and eat it right in front of yourself.  And different-priced sushi sits on different-colored plates.  So at the end of the meal, the chef just adds up your bill based on how many plates you have of what color.  I was really amazed when I saw it, but then sushi hasn't been a central Ohio staple for all that long.

That sushi bar is really cool! I have seen ones like that on the Travel Channel (or was it the Food Network?), but I have never seen one in person.
I love sushi, but it really hasnt caught on in MN yet so there aren't really any quality places around here that I know of.  Frown

At least I know where it is and will be able to let Sylvain drool on this (wonder how hygenic it is though to serve food in such location) bar. hihi

I've never seen a conveyor belt for sushi, but we have boats and water here.  I found this pic on the internet of a restaurant called Isobune, which we have here in the Bay Area.

http://viewsbythebay.blogspot.com/Isobune.JPG

So what do you do? You pick a plate out and go eat it or you select something and have to wait that it gets to you?

Here, when you see an item that comes along that you want, you just grab it off the boat.  It's kind of fun, however you do have to wonder how long the food has been sitting out.

Elise!  I think that may be the very restaurant where I first saw a sushi conveyer belt.  Is that in a mall in Marin County?

The restaurant, Isobune, is located in Burlingame, according to what I could find on the web.  It also used to be in Oakland and San Francisco, and possibly other cities, but I couldn't find any reference to those locations so I'm not sure if they are still around.

I used to go there when I was younger and would venture to more cities outside my little local area, but it just seems more difficult now with added responsibilities of growing up!    I don't know if there was one in Marin county.  Maybe someone else will know.

At the locations I went to, they'd have the main large table centered in the room with the chef in the center, and then the water and boats.  There'd be other smaller tables against the walls in the restaurant.  I remember boats that had little dragon heads... but I don't think that's what in the pic I posted above.  Maybe I just imaged the dragons.

I wasn't guessing about Willow's location: I was guessing about the location of the photo Elise put up of a generic sushi conveyer belt restaurant somewhere in California.   No need to fear *I'm* going to ruin the game; even though I enjoy things like this, I'm *terrible* at them!!!

Tammy will post that the time is right for guesses but don't do it before.  It takes the fun out of it for everyone else.

I have no intention of guessing prematurely.  And, as I say, it wouldn't do any good if I did, as I am wretched at this sort of thing.  I just wondered what the time-frame was.

On the final day of posting pictures from that host, I'll open it up for guessing.  The average is about 9 or 10 days of pictures.

They even have a Dog Treat Bar. I can’t reach anything!

This is better, now I can grab some cookies!

These are just my size

Don’t leave me alone here too long, someone might think I am for sale!

Maybe my host can feed me some of this Raw Food they sell here!

Have to admit that I am still no good at this (plus I am too lazy to look) so I am going to wait until the host/hostess is revealed.  The pictures are great!  I wish that I had a place like that bakery here where I live.  But then, on the other hand, it is probably good that there isn't one here because I would spend too much money there.

No, don't have the money and it would actually be too much like work - I am not that ambitious and have no business sense.
