At first I was totally sure it wasn't the MN Ren Fest. But then when the state fair pictures came, I knew it was! And I suspected Danielle but wasn't sure. It was the AVON store that sealed the deal!

Same here.

What the heck does one do with a butter bust when the state fair is over?

I recognized the Renaissance Festival as the Minnesota one right off and I knew from the first picture it had to be Danielle, because she mentioned she went to it!  Great job Danielle.  You did a fabulous job!!

I've been so busy lately work and home that I did not have lots of time to do the "digging". Had found the fair at 1st but did not look up the rest to link it.

Great job and great pics!

weeks ago, before wendell arrived, danielle's FB was mentioning the Ren Fest. so when wendell showed up there....it was a dead giveaway.

i facebooked her with my suspicions and she confirmed them and i kept mum until it was revealed here Smile

Danielle just contacted me to ask me to let you know that she doesn't have computer access for a few days.  After that she will explain the pictures of Wendell adventures and add some more pictures.

Ok, I knew this was going to be an easy one for all the CSI's out there, so I wanted to have a lot of fun with it. And I did! I got quite a few strange looks from other people as I was taking pictures of Wendell. But after I explained what I was doing, most were more than happy to help out and some even thought about doing something similar with their friends.
(L to R, Willie, Milo, Wendell, and Tallee. Duncan the cat wanted to be in the picture too!)

Days 1 and 2: The Minnesota Renaissance Festival.
This is an event I try to go to every year. The costumed actors were a blast and were more than happy to help show Wendell a good time, as evidenced in day 2! The Kings Stocks are where you can bribe the actors to "arrest" your friends and put them in the stocks and make fun of them in front of the whole crowd. They thought it was funny that I wanted to use a stuffed dog, but they played along anyway. I feel bad for the poor guy with Wendell. He was sent there by his friends and I dont think he expected to share the stocks with Wendell!

Day 3: Minnesota State Fair.
Also known as the "Great Minnesota Get-together". There are rides, animals, fun exhibits, and of course.... the food on a stick! I love the state fair!! Wendell and I (ok, mostly me) got to try deep fried Reeses PB Cups, crepes, pronto pups, SPAM curds, Cream puffs and a host of other very bad for you but very yummy things while we were there. As many of you may or may not know, MN is the home for the notorious meat in a can called SPAM. They had a fun exhibit there to learn about it and you could buy souveniers as well as some tastey SPAM concoctions like SPAM curds or a SPAMburger. Give it a try, its not as bad as you think!
Every year the MN Dairy Assn holds a contest at the state fair called "Princess Kay of the Milky Way". They crown regional winners throughout the state and the finalists come to the state fair to vie for the titile of Princess Kay to reign over the fair. Each finalist spends up to 8 hours in the butter cooler to get her bust carved in a block of butter. After the fair, they get to take home the sculpture and do what they wish with it. Some hold a corn feed for their supporters and melt the butter for the corn, but I'm sure there are many other things they can do with it. I have heard that many just freeze it down and use it til its gone.
The Purina Pet Center is a fun exhibit for pet lovers. Throughout the fair they have volunteer vets come in and do spay/neuter surgeries for the public to see and teach them about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. There is also a "Meet the Breed" exhibit where you can meet different breeds of dogs and talk to the breeders. They also have demos going on too. We just happened to be there during an agility demo.

Wendell is thinking of joining the St. Paul K9 force!

Day 4: Underwater Adventures
I spent the day with my mom and my niece Scarlett at the Mall of America where we went to Underwater Adventures. Its an aquarium where you walk through a long glass tube and are surrounded by the sea life. It was so much fun. We got to see lots of different types of aquatic homes from a MN lake to a coral reef to an Amazon River bottom. I learned lots! While walking around the mall later, we came across Sharkey, the Underwater Adventures mascot. I asked him to hold Wendell while I got a picture and he promptly shoved Wendell in his mouth! LOL. Scarlett loved Wendell so much that I had a hard time taking pictures of him while we were walking though the tunnel because she refused to let him go! I had to go back though later to get pictures of Wendell!

Day 5: Legoland and Nick Universe
Nick Universe (formally Camp Snoopy before the mall changed formats) is the theme park in the center of the Mall of America. It has several rollercoasters, kiddie rides and other thrill rides INSIDE the mall. Its great because you can get your fix of rides even in the middle of winter. Its also fun to get your picture taken with SpongeBob!  Wink
Legoland is an exhibit in the MOA where you can play with legos and buy lego sets. Its always fun to see what you can build!

Day 6: Mall of America
The MOA is the largest mall in the USA and the second largest in the world. Currently the mall in Edmonton, Canada is the largest, but after the 2012 expansion the MOA is expected to the largest in the world. It has 4 floors of shops, movie theaters, mini golf, nightclubs, restaraunts, and of course Nick Universe, Legoland and Underwater Adventures. It is also anchored by 4 main department stores: Sears, Bloomingdales, Macy's, and Nordstroms. If you are ever in MN, this is the place to see!

Day 7: The AVON Store
For those of you who know me, I have been an AVON lady for quite a few years and opened an AVON store. Wendell stopped by to help me one day and check things out. In case some of the CSI's missed it, the total on the till that Wendell rung up was also the same as the zip code for the town I live in.

Day 8: Sunrise Prairie Trail.
Many years ago there was a railroad that ran from Duluth to the Twin Cities and it ran directly though North Branch. When the railroad stopped running from North Branch south to the Twin Cities, it was decided to remove the tracks and pave the area where they were into a bike trail/walking path. North Branch is the beginning of this trail and it can be followed all the way to the Depot in St. Paul.

Day 9: The hole...
Yes, Wendell was checking out the handiwork of the resident eskies. I figured this would be a good clue from all the pictures posted here: http://forum.eskie.net/index.php/topic,16677.0.html

Day 10: North Branch, MN

Some random other photos of Wendells trip to MN...

Heeheehee. Yeah, I'm quite a stinker!  Tongue

I aim to please...  Big Grin

BTW, I totally forgot to add- The MN Renaissance Fest actually allows dogs! I didnt bring any of mine this year because I knew I would have my hands full with Wendell. You just have to bring proof of vaccinations and pay a small fee and you can bring in your pet to share the festivities. In fact, they even host a pet day as part of one of the many themed weekends and even have a pet costume contest. Maybe next year we need to get a group of eskies together and go?

Henry the VIII? Hopefully no one has to play one of his wives. Wouldnt want anyone to lose their head!
Plague? Hahaha... this reminds me of the old Monty Python movies. "Bring out your dead!" "Hey, I'm not quite dead yet!"
