Go ahead, sir, you can turn the page now.  Wait - why does that house look familar?

This must be a really big bathtub.

Oh - I guess it's a really big water dish!

Hmmm.... another bell.  I keep seeing a lot of these.

Yikes! This one has been very hard!  Google Images was failing me. I was sure I knew the state and kept putting in all kinds of good words to try to find these pictures but no luck.

But today I had success at last! I was sure of the state, although I did try another one just in case. I confess, there were no CSI clues for me. I just did it by brute force, googling cities that I thought it was. Now I know where Wendell is and who has him!!

Now to go back and learn about some of those mysterious places. . .

You're doing better than me!  I've spent several evenings trying to figure this one out, and I'm still stumped!  I have some geographical areas that I'm searching, but maybe if I keep at it, I'll figure it out too!  This one has been a challenge!

I found it by using the Post Office picture. Every town has a post office!

I couldn't read what it said before "Post Office".  When I enlarged it, it pixilated too much to read.

Yep, the post office doesn't say the city. But if you google Images, and keep putting in cities with the words post office, you get pictures of each city's post office.

So if you suspected it was me, you'd put in Northfield Post Office and hope for a picture that matched.

Sorry folks for two days together.... we had major storms roll through last night with some major thunder boomers and I shut down the PC and unplugged from the wall to be safe.

Day 7

Go ahead, sir, you can turn the page now.  Wait - why does that house look familar?

This must be a really big bathtub.

Oh - I guess it's a really big water dish!

Hmmm.... another bell.  I keep seeing a lot of these.

Day 8

My host brought me to work today.  Look how tall those buildings are!

Wow.  Security here is tight!

My "dog" tags must have set it off!

Eeeek. All that security must be too keep in these wild animals.

Nice kitty.  Nice kitty.

This is more like it!

OK- now I know what city the person works in and it's in the general area I suspected but still don't know who it is.

Here's the hints.  Photobucket acting wacko... pictures to follow.

Day 9
Before we leave, can I check up on Willow please?

My host says I should see this building because it is really pretty inside, and kind of famous.

Going up!

I think I prefered the elevator.

Totally cool.  It does look kind of familiar to me.

Time to go home.  We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow. My host said we are going somewhere very special.

I'm *thinking* I may have figured out the city the host works in - my husband helped me google pictures of different skylines looking for those buildings yesterday and we may have found them.  I haven't been able to backtrack the rest of the clues yet, though.  Looking forward to the great "unveiling"!!  Smile  This one has been the toughest yet.

I found a few more items... still keeping my 1st thought for now. I'm pretty sure it's someone that was there but is not in one of the clues and some other threads on this board. Tongue

I found more of the places, too. All in the same original town. I'm learning a lot!  But the big question is. . .does the person I think it is really have Wendell or are there more people living in this town????

Let the Guessing Begin!!

I wonder where we are?

Do they have real animals here?

Ha!  It's not that "big"

How come all the people getting off this thing look green?

Now I am really confused. Where am I?

I wonder why how this place is enchanted.

Where did all the singing birds and flowers go?

Wait!  I know where I am know!!  Wheeeeee!  This was a FUN day!

ok, I didn't have much time to investigate on this one, but I knew it was southern CA from the start, and I am going to say it is Mzliz.  I couldn't find a lot of the statues, but the working location perhaps.  I could be wrong, but that's my guess

From Day 1, I suspected Southern CA because of the house with the Spanish tiles, the trees, bushes and general landscaping.  I didn't have a chance to do searches on the statues and museums and buildings, so I'm curious to find out about them.

That's my guess, too. I found the Whittier post office and city hall, and the depot place. I couldn't find the man with the book though.  Frown

I have 2 guesses as I found the clock in Idaho that is pretty similar...and DesertEskies was still in there at the time probably Wendell was around then moved to LA area in that Aug/Sept. time fr

My other guess would have been MzLiz if not DesertEskies.

Aha, but DesertEskies did not move to Whittier where MzLiz lives!  I still vote for MzLiz (even though I didn't find everything in the pictures.)

Hey guys!  I figured CA would not be too hard to guess so I stuck to my home town for the first few days.  Still, I figured the statue of John Greenleaf WHITTIER would give me away if the palm trees, red roof tiles and bells didn’t.  Wendell also got a quick trip to downtown LA to visit my office and the Bradbury building.  Plus, what is a visit to LA that doesn’t include Disneyland! I'm glad I had him when I did because last week I broke my left arm badly and had to have surgery this week.  Wendell would never have seen the outside of his box if he hadn't come when he did!

Short History of Whittier:Whittier is located in Los Angeles County, about 12 miles southeast of the City of Los Angeles.  Whittier is a charter law city and was incorporated in 1898. The City covers 14.8 square miles and has an estimated population of 87,190.

In 1784 Manuel Nieto, a retired captain who served in the Portola Expedition, was granted 300,000 plus acres of land by the King of Spain. The land grant, in what is now California, stretched from the hills north of Whittier to the sea, and from the Santa Ana River to the San Gabriel River. By 1822 Mexico had achieved political independence from Spain, recalled the Spanish-appointed Governor from Alta California and appointed its own. In 1834 Mexico began to "secularize" the missions and issued land grants to individual rancheros. Juan Crispin Perez received a grant for Rancho Paso de Bartolo in 1835 for land that had initially belonged to the San Gabriel Mission. Perez eventually sold five parcels of the Paso de Bartolo land to Pio de Jesus Pico (1801-1894), a ranchero who had already served as Governor once (1832-33) and was to become last Mexico-appointed Governor of California (1845-46).

Modern Whittier's roots can be traced to 160 acres of public land acquired in 1868 by Jacob Gerkens. Gerkens was a German immigrant who paid $234 to the U.S. government for the land under the auspices of the Homestead Act. Mr. Gerkens built a small cabin on the property which stands today as the Jonathan Bailey House. The land changed hands several times before 1,259 acres were acquired in 1887 by a group of Quakers interested in founding a new community in California. The group acquired the land as the Pickering Land and Water Development Company. Many "Friends" on the East Coast bought lots from the Company sight unseen, but all "fair-minded people" were invited to settle here. Farmers in the area planted barley, beans, cabbage, corn, oats, peanuts, tomatoes and citrus. The town was named after fellow Quaker John Greenleaf Whittier, a famous poet, writer and newspaper editor.
