where did the picture of the pair of Eskies on the Home Page on the lower left come from?  It almost looks as if they are wearing some sort of necklaces, but could it be that they are showing curly hair around the neck?  It looks as if that picture might be an old one and I am wondering if that was an example of "old-style" Eskies.  Nala & Quinn's Mom and I have been having a discussion about curly-haired Eskies.  I thought I was the only one who had a curly-haired Eskie (Sweet Pea), but it turns out Nala is also curly-haired.  Was that the original "Spitz" template?  How much has the look of Eskies changed over the years?

They look like my Winston (he's a throw back).   I call him my Eskiepoo or Curley Coated Eskie.   LoL!

That's a good moniker!  A friend of mine calls Sweet Pea "Shirley Temple".

I didn't know what you were talking about  Big Grin I think I've only gone to the "home page" 2 or 3 times and that was over two years ago!  I went and looked though.

I had to go back too!  I have the login page bookmarked so I never see the Home page!  They look like curly eskies.  Maybe Michael can enlighten us as to the pictures origins.

I don't know about the bottom picture, but I believe the top one is hanging in Pinebrook's house and the puppy on the right is Kola's mom!

Am I right, Michael?

First off....the current home page is a bit old and will be changing before too long, as I've been working on pretty much a complete revamp of the whole site, so what's there may not be there in the coming months...at least as it is. However...as it is now....

The two eskies in the picture at the top are indeed from Pinebrook. Sharon can enlighten us a bit more on the details, but if I'm not mistaken it is Windstar on the left and Windsong on the right. Star and Song are sisters, and Star just so happens to be Shelby's mother as well. Sharon had that picture taken not long before I got Shelby....I forget how long, but they were pretty young then. Anyway, I remember she had this gorgeous large copy of the photograph on her living room wall at the time....and hope she still has it as that is a lovely picture to show everyone. She also had some photo business cards at the time with the same photo on it...and it was one of those I scanned in and have used on the site here. Actually, I *still* use it as my wallpaper on my computer to this day as well! I've tried other wallpaper, but I've always come back to that photo as I just simply love it! So, it's certainly a personal favorite of mine, and yes, thanks to Sharon! Smile

The lower picture should be from a set of clipart that I bought some years ago. I'd have to dig up the original image as I think this was cropped from something a bit larger....and it was in an older, classic style....so probably painted 100 or more years ago or something. I'm not sure if there is much detail on who painted it or not....but I felt it fitting for the site and have used it for sometime for the general dog area.

Wow, I almost forgot about those eskies.  I haven't seen that page since I joined the forum, but I remember, back in my "lurking" days, thinking they were so cute!  Thanks for the info Michael.

But the big question still remains:  did those two older Eskies have curly coats?  Were curly-coated Eskies the norm many, many years ago?

I, too, hadn't seen those pictures, as I Bookmarked the page with all the postings.  It wasn't until Kristine mentioned them that I went and looked.

I really would like to know, since Sweet Pea has a curly coat, if that is what Eskies were like way, way back.

Well for one it was a painting, so not necessarily of actual dogs. It seems to fit with the style of that general era.  But, there are curly Eskies now so you know there were curly Eskies then, too.

I'm just taking a long shot guess here, but I'd assume that curly coated Eskies were around about as much as they are today.

After Meli got spayed, her coat along her shoulders and back became curly. Not real sure how or why it caused that.
